The Faculty of Communication at Kadir Has University was established in 2003. Located on the Golden Horn in Istanbul, it offers immediate access to the political, cultural, and media resources of various national and international institutions in the city. The Faculty provides students with the opportunity to acquire extensive practical and theoretical knowledge of all aspects of human communication with emphasis on public relations, advertising, visual communication design, new media, film studies, film-radio-television production, campaign analysis and creative and cultural industries. To achieve these goals the Faculty of Communication offers interdisciplinary educational programs in Public Relations and Information, Advertising, Communication Design, New Media, Radio, Television and Cinema.
Currently, our Faculty of Communications is one of the fastest growing communication schools in Turkey. We have 20 full time and 40 part-time academic staff. Since 2007 more than 200 students graduated from our school. As of fall 2010, we have 617 undergraduate and 110 graduate students. With highly qualified academic staff, drawing on extensive professional experience from media sector, our faculty of communication aims to advance media and communications theory and practice in new ways. The research interests of the faculty are interdisciplinary and broad in scope, ranging from documentary film, Turkish film history and industry, intercultural communication, city and culture industries, contemporary art, global security and visual communication.
At the Faculty of Communication, we offer an innovative and comprehensive curriculum, emphasising critical thinking, skill learning and conceptual development. In small-sized classes, our students discuss contemporary theories of art, film, and communication, experiment with latest technologies, and learn the arts of producing for media and communication. In workshops, they meet the leading figures of the media, ranging from directors, technicians and media critics to distributers, and critically engage with the media producers and commentators.
As Kadir Has Faculty of Communication, we are committed to educate prospective media academics and professionals who are equipped with critical as well as practical skills. We hope our graduates will not only critically evaluate the media today but also shape the future of the media with their own creative input and products.
