Rezan Has Museum

Founded at the bottom floor of the Cibali Campus, Rezan Has Museum is not only a building that hosts exhibitions, but the museum itself is a historical piece of exhibit, for it is located within a Byzantine cistern called “The Dark Fountain/Karanlık Çeşme, one of the few Byzantine constructions along the Golden Horn apart from the city walls. Another part of the museum is located in an Ottoman Hamam (Turkish bath), which dates back to the 16th-17th centuries.

Rezan Has Museum is a response to a moment in which significant investments have been made with the aim to turn the Haliç district into a cultural, artistic and educational center in Istanbul. Rezan Has Museum has been preparing exhibitions by concentrating on the theme “Haliç” incorporating the traces of Byzantine, Ottoman and the Republican periods. In 2010, Rezan Has Museum presented exhibitions such as “Silent Witnesses From Neolithic Period to the Seljuks”, “Anatolia in Figures” and Mustafa Tunçalp’s “Ceramics”.
